Tunnel Ventilation System for Central Circular Shinagawa Route

The tunnel ventilation system for the Metropolitan Expressway Central Circular Shinagawa Route has the largest scale among the systems that Ebara has installed. The most notable features in this project are “innovations for in-the-field construction” and “ventilation control system construction.” For the field construction, various innovative ideas were incorporated. Above all, in the installation of axial flow fans, we even improved the structure of the fans, which led to better work efficiency. Another notable point is that the constructed ventilation control system enables the efficient operation of ventilating equipment for the overall Yamate Tunnel, the nation’s longest road tunnel with a total length of 18.2 km.

Report on Delivery and Operational Condition of Large-scale Grate-type (Stoker-type) Incinerator in Zhangzhou City, Fujian, China

Ebara’s grate-type incinerator with a capacity of 1050 t/d (525 t/24 h×2 line) was delivered to Zhangzhou City, Fujian, China, and its performance test was completed in September 2014. Ebara Environmental Plant Co., Ltd. and Ebara Qingdao Co., Ltd. already delivered four incineration plants in mainland China; two with fluidized-bed type incinerators and two with grate-type incinerators, and reported about the grate-type incinerator delivered to Weihai City, Shandong, in the Ebara Engineering Review. This is the fifth incinerator delivered to China and the largest in scale of our grate-type incinerators. The calorific value of waste in China is lower than that in Japan; however, by making use of the experiences from previous incinerators, we improved a part of the furnace and system design to realize more stable operation.
This paper describes the design improvements, results of the performance test, and operational condition to date.

Water Supply Equipment: Introduction of Product Technologies

We discussed various water supply systems, their purposes and how to select them, in the first and second series of technical introduction of the water supply equipment (water supply unit) which comprises our company’s main products. Subsequently, we explained the “ON-OFF control system” and “variable frequency control system” for water supply equipment, which is used mainly in combination with a reception tank, in the third and fourth parts of the series. In the fifth part, we illustrated the “direct connecting booster pump system” that supplies water utilizing water main pipe pressure.
In this sixth part of the series, we will introduce product technologies related to water supply equipment, including countermeasures for vibration and electrical/non-electrical noise caused by operation of the equipment or the motor used in it, and maintenance of the equipment.
