Zero flooding

Taking on the challenge with Japan’s water control technology: Can we reduce global flood damage to zero?

Protecting our way of life from the threat of flood disasters

"Abnormal weather" has been frequently heard in recent years." Japan also suffers from extreme heat and heavy rains every year. This abnormal weather has caused serious weather disasters.

Among these weather disasters, floods caused by heavy rains are one of the disasters that have a major impact on our lives. Originally in Japan, annual rainfall exceeded 1,700ml by ( more than twice the global average ) in addition to being a country with a lot of rain, due to the steep topography, the amount of river flow rapidly increases when heavy rains hit , and flooding. In response to this flood, we have a long-standing mission to protect our daily lives from flooding.

And from now on we have accumulated expertise in plant design, technical proposal capabilities, product development capabilities, and achievements in construction, a diverse range of pumps, and engineering capabilities.I would like to use it for preventing flooding in the world.

Addressing flood disasters not only in Japan but around the world

Over the past few decades, and the world as a whole has been experiencing damage from floods, partly due to rising temperatures. Flooding not only damages houses and structures, but also deteriorates the sanitary environment and makes epidemics more likely to occur. Estimates show that the number of people affected by river flooding totaled approximately 65 million worldwide in 2010, but now more than 100 million. It is estimated that the number will increase to 132 million by 2030. It is said that the economic loss caused by the disruption of people's activities by flooding exceeds $500 billion worldwide.

If this is caused by global warming, we will face disasters that are getting worse. And the world has more precipitation and flood-prone areas than Japan. Furthermore, because the climate and water quality of each region are different, Japanese facilities may not be used abroad as they are. In order to confront flooding worldwide, we believe it is essential to provide further total solutions to resolve issues. EBARA aims for a future of zero flood damage not only in Japan but also in the world.
