The Hatakeyama Seiji Memorial Ebara Foundation (Ebara Foundation) was established at Ebara in 1989 to deepen mutual understanding and friendly relations, primarily with Southeast Asian countries, through international cooperation activities such as technical guidance. Based on the philosophy of the late President Seiji Hatakeyama, "Ebara lives together with the local community," we are engaged in social contribution activities that are not aimed at corporate profit.
The activities are divided into the following two categories.
EBARA Hatakeyama Memorial Fund
- Utilizing the experience and technology accumulated at EBARA, we will provide short-term technical courses (seminars, etc.) based at overseas universities and other institutions.
- We will provide support for research and development that meets local needs.

Short-term Technical Courses
In response to strong demand from all over the world, including developing regions, as of the end of December 2019, we have held a total of 279 seminars, workshops, and training courses, large and small, in over 20 countries, with a total of 13,513 participants.
These courses are conducted in cooperation with universities and public institutions around the world. EHMF dispatches experienced engineers to take charge of the courses, and contributes to the improvement of technical skills. Participants are mainly university students and practicing engineers from the public, private and private sectors, and the course content ranges from basic knowledge to practical topics such as the planning, design and maintenance of public facilities and industrial infrastructure.
Training courses are conducted in cooperation with Asian universities such as the Asian Institute of Technology (Bangkok, Thailand) and universities in South America, each of which provides a unique platform for international cooperation.

Research Support
In Southeast Asian universities, departments such as "Faculty of Engineering Using Fluid Machinery" and "Faculty of Heat and Refrigeration Technology" are becoming increasingly popular, and the number of universities offering pump courses is on the rise. As a result, there is a shortage of teaching materials for practical training, and there is an increasing demand for teaching materials that can teach pump structure and performance measurement methods.
Therefore, in 2015, we started a project to donate teaching materials that are useful for learning about pumps to universities, and have donated water supply pump units and pump cut models to the Institute of Technology of Cambodia, Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, Thammasat University in Thailand, Yangon Technological University in Myanmar, and the University of Indonesia.
