Respecting Human Rights

Respect for human rights and diversity is expressly provided for in the EBARA Group CSR Policy and is put into practice at all levels of our business. By engaging in corporate activities with respect for human rights, we strive to gain the trust of stakeholders, build good relationships, and increase corporate value. Our approach to human rights is based on the United Nations International Bill of Human Rights, the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the International Labour Organization’s international labor standards, and informed by our support of the 10 principles of the United Nations Global Compact. This includes but is not limited to, the prohibition of child labor, forced labor, and the provision of safe and healthy working environments

1. The EBARA Group respects human rights throughout all business activities.
   1. We respect and support the United Nations International Bill of Human Rights, the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and the International Labour Organization's Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.
   2. We act in compliance with all local laws and regulations and respect and support internationally recognized human rights for all stakeholders when conducting business activities anywhere in the world.
   3. We expect all directors, officers and employees of the Group, as well as stakeholders directly linked to the Group's business operations, products or services, to respect internationally recognized human rights.
2. The EBARA Group conducts human rights due diligence.
   1. We conduct a series of procedures to identify, prevent, detect, mitigate, and correct adverse human rights impacts linked to our business activities, products, or services.
3. The EBARA Group addresses and corrects any adverse human rights impacts of our business activities.
   1. We implement mechanisms to enable early response to complaints and direct remediation.
   2. We resolve complaints through dialogue with those affected.

The EBARA Group Human Rights Committee was established based on the EBARA Group Human Rights Policy.

The committee meets twice annually to review the Group’s activities and create action plans. Progress is then reported to and reviewed by the Sustainability Committee. These deliberations are reported to and reviewed by the Board of Directors and continuous improvement measures are implemented.

The EBARA Group considers responding to human rights issues, including raising awareness of human rights as well as harassment, as an integral part of our compliance promotion activities. The department in charge of compliance acts as a specialist department to investigate and take appropriate action against human rights violations

The EBARA Group conducts questionnaires to analyze and evaluate the risk of human rights violations at the organizational level. In addition, the Group has internal and external hotlines as well as Compliance Liaisons in place to accept consultation regarding possible human rights or compliance violations including incidents of harassment. Through this we aim to create good working environments where everyone can be comfortable and achieve their full potential. Upon receipt of a complaint, the Group quickly confirms the facts of the case, and takes prompt and appropriate action to make improvements to the situation and achieve resolution while protecting the human rights and privacy of the whistleblower/complainant and each individual involved with the Group.

We conduct educational activities and training in the interest of raising awareness about human rights.

1. Training is conducted annually for the roughly 104 Compliance Liaisons who are then tasked with transmitting that knowledge to their workplaces.
2. Training regarding the EBARA Group business ethics framework and Code of Conduct is provided at the time of hiring and additional training regarding human rights is conducted before employees are seconded to overseas companies.

The Group implements the above and more to enable employees to be more aware of human rights risks and issues, and combined with the hotlines in place, contributes to the Group’s ability to quickly address any issues that may arise.

• Education to increase understanding about the LGBT community was conducted for Compliance Liaisons in fiscal year 2022.
• Training regarding harassment is conducted as a part of training for new managers (Number of EBARA domestic Group participants in fiscal year 2022: 83)
• We collect human rights slogan suggestions from Group employees and on-site business partners to spread awareness of human rights
• We participate in external events for human rights such as, "Human Rights Festa Tokyo"
